His talk will focus on the infantry soldiers who waged the bloody battle of Antietam. This talk is based  on his recent book The Battle of Antietam: The Bloodiest Day (2011).

This three-day program will start Thursday evening September 26 at Fredericksburg Hospitality House with a lecture featuring the distinguished Civil War historian Frank O’Reilly. His talk will focus on the two armies on the eve of the Chancellorsville campaign. O’Reilly’s address, “‘A Host Within Himself’: Stonewall as a Leader,” will reflect upon Jackson´s unparalleled mastery of the operational art of war. He is the author of Stonewall Jackson at Fredericksburg (1993).

Sherman in the opening operations of the Atlanta campaign Dr. Davis´ presentation is based on his recent book A Long and Bloody Task: The Atlanta Campaign (2016) .
